Photography for Kids – Photo Walk

Develop your child’s creative thinking and self-expression

I think you’d agree with me when I say creativity and self-expression are the secret ingredients for excellence, be it at school, work, or life in general.

Kids are a power-house of energy (both mental & physical), which when invested in the right direction, they bloom with confidence and turn into enterprising/mindful adults.

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up” – Pablo Picasso

Like Picasso rightly hints, we must keep the artist in us alive and not let the growing up dull this shine. If you’re wondering what art form to introduce to your child, then this online photography workshop for kids might be a great start to explore their creative side.

Has your kid ever been on a photo walk before?

We head out for a walk with kids and encourage them to take photos of everything that catches their eye. Initiated with a quick introduction to photography basics. This photo walk will help your kids (7-12 years) explore the world around through their inquisitive eye and find their own self expression – something that can be nurtured at a young age to enhance that creative side of children.

What does the Photo walk cover?

This photo walk is usually done at selected location, spanning a total of 2 hours, covers the following:

  1. Meeting at the selected locations
  2. Brief Introduction to Photography Basics
  3. Photo walk with kids
  4. Huddle back
  5. Distribution of participation certificates

My child is too young, how will this photo walk benefit my kid?

Not only is it fun for kids, photography as a skill and art form has some very unique benefits:

  • Boosts self-confidence and self-esteem that comes with learning a new skill
  • Encourages creative thinking
  • Aids in processing their emotions and self-expression
  • Visual art activities help develop fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination
  • Uplifts mood and increases happiness

And they are never too young to use a phone or tablet to click the things they like or people they love.

In this photo walk, it doesn’t matter if the kids use a “professional” camera, most kids take their very first photos using their parents’ tablets or phones these days. The main aim of this walk is to encourage their independent and creative thinking.

Any kind of camera and a curious young mind – and your kid is all set for this outdoor getaway with photography.
